Here at The Paper Fox, we love all weddings. Every kind of wedding gives us all the feels - from the more traditional celebrations, to the weddings that throw tradition to the wind and do everything differently. Lately we’ve been seeing a trend of throwing out tradition, and if you’ve been considering a wedding day that looks a little different, then we have the ideas for you!

1. Schedule a ‘first look’ into your day.

First looks can be beautiful way of seeing your partner for the first time on the day in a really special and intimate way. It also allows for capturing your photos before the ceremony, leaving more time for you to spend with your loved ones later on in the day

Cat & Minh celebrated their own way by jetting off to Koh Samui, a place they shared on vacation and loved for their big day.

2.Consider a cake alternative.

Spend 5 seconds on Pinterest and you’ll see thousands of ideas for different kinds of wedding cakes. This is a real trend and we are here for it. We love this idea because it lets you be creative and choose something that you will actually eat.

If cheese brings you the most joy, get a big wheel of cheese.

The options are endless, and we just love the idea of you and your spouse eating whatever you choose on each anniversary.

3. Throw out the seating plan.

Almost every bride we have spoken to who has organised a seating plan has said this was by far the most stressful part of planning their wedding. There are so many requirements when organising seating plans, so we just say get rid of it! We love the idea of communal tables, where guests can choose who they sit with. It also allows for different groups of people to get to know each other in a really organic and lovely way.

4. Banquet style dinners.

We’ve seen an increasing number of couples opt out of a traditional alternate-drop meal service, and go for a big banquet style meal. Picture a big Jamie Oliver style feast placed in front of your guests to share and serve themselves. Gives us lovely family Christmas feast vibes, and also gives your guests the chance to interact and mingle while sharing food.

5. Confused about who to have in your bridal party? Skip it.

We know the dramas that can come with choosing who will be your bridesmaids and groomsmen. Some of the loveliest weddings we’ve seen have skipped having a bridal party altogether, instead opting for including their closest friends in other ways throughout the lead-up to the big day, and on the wedding day itself. This might look like getting your friends to do a reading during your ceremony, speeches during your reception, or setting aside time for special portraits to be taken with your closest groups of pals.

6. Bridal gowns - get creative.

Pants. Jumpsuits. Capes. Short dresses. It’s 2019 and the options for different types of wedding dresses are literally endless. Want to wear a coloured dress? There’s nothing stopping you. Here are some of our favourites.
